Working on Losing Weight and Getting Healthy Despite Many Pitfalls

Sleep Struggles and The Aching Back

I hated missing my physical therapy appointment on Wednesday.  I was alert at 4:30 a.m. and left a voice mail to cancel.  I just can't gear down lately.  So this week I went and did physical therapy on both Thursday and Friday.  I don't recommend it!  They say to leave a day or two in between sessions.  Well CVS Pharmacy made a lot of money off me Thursday night.  I broke down and got a large cold pack and was ready to shout "hot damn" because the vitamins my dermatologist has me on for rosacea (adult acne) and my immune system were 50% off.  I decided to get a pair of sunglasses too so I could stop wearing my eye glasses to physical therapy.  When the physical therapist works on my neck, I can't see squat!  They tend to forget my vision is something like 20/400 and the room is this giant blur to me.  My eyes dry out pretty fast so I can't wear my contacts much more than 6 hours before I have had enough.

At least this week I could shimmy on the therapy table!  The one thing I didn't like hearing from the physical therapist was improving my posture.  He is concerned I will be an old lady with a bulge in her back that's on a walker looking down to walk based on my current injuries.  There's a name for the bulge but since I don't remember and probably can't spell it, I am trying to improve my posture so I don't look strange in my golden years.  My life already feels like a circus and I want to get healthy where I only feel like maybe I'm losing my mind instead of being Humpty Dumpty.

I am still working hard to lose the weight on Nutrisystem.  I ate some of the "funky foods" in the box I didn't really want and I haven't thrown up or had the runs yet.  My only complaint is the horrible indigestion the Nutrisystem foods give me as I have acid reflux anyway and a lot of their sauces get me close to bedtime.  I learned while pregnant with my son in 1999 and 2000 that I really don't have to measure the Mylanta anymore.  I know just how much to use and tell the family members not to use MY bottle!

I miss walking.  I do not miss housework!  This weekend Geary's youngest daughter and her family will be over on Sunday for Father's Day.  I have six grown stepchildren ages 33 to 19.  Four of them are my husband's biological children and two are those he raised with his ex-wife #2 since they were around 3 and 5 years of age til they moved out.  I hope Sunday goes smoothly as the almost 2 year old grandson gets into everything--especially the dog water in the kitchen!  My house is no longer child proofed so my stress levels get high.

My husband is surprised I'm almost done reading Breaking Dawn from the Twilight series of books by Stephanie Meyer. This book is about 750 pages and I'm reading at a good pace considering I only got it last weekend.  Normally I'm not a vampire person, but I do like a good love story.  I went from watching the first two movies in the series to reading the last two books in the series.  I'm cheap and probably won't go see Eclipse unless a friend invites me.  I love only paying $1.00 plus tax on redbox to watch a movie.

I am truly enjoying having my son home from school.  I can deal with the video game playing but find it especially cute that he goes around the house singing all day.  If you like theme songs to movies and cartoons, email me and I'll be happy to let Philip belt one out for you via telephone.  He likes "It's Raining Sunshine" from Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and many others.  Given his Asperger's Syndrome, ADHD, and social anxiety, I am glad Philip has found a refuge in music.  We like to listen to satellite radio for the children's music and some of it is kinda catchy that I find myself singing along with it too.

Geary said he would help me with housework this weekend where I can't do much.  He's been very good to wash dishes and do laundry.  We just have a lot of clutter and I'm sure if I search hard enough on these blog sites, I'll get some great tips.  I'm not as bad as that show Hoarders but I need to clear out some space!
