Progress, Not Perfection

It was hard getting to bed last night.  I think it was close to 4 a.m. before I drifted off to sleep.  I had been reading Breaking Dawn from the Twilight series and using a heating pad to dull the pain in my shoulder and lumbar vertebrae.  I got approved for 6 more sessions of physical therapy and hope in the next couple weeks I will be able to exercise like I once did, building it up to at least 30 minutes of cardio.  Right now even a trip to the grocery store hurts.

I've lost 5 pounds on Nutrisystem so I'm feeling good that I am disciplined there.  I found some glitches I was making along the way.  The serving sizes on the containers of fruit and yogurt I was using didn't match up to what Nutrisystem was recommending and it was offsetting my calorie limit for the day.  Now I'm using Dannon's nonfat yogurt and it's not half bad.  Tried key lime pie this week and it's really good.  My one cheat is I like to put a spoonful or two of "grape nuts" cereal in my yogurt cup to make it crunchy.  It makes me feel fuller and so far hasn't upset the calorie intake.  Maybe I'm odd but there are certain "slimy" type foods I don't like and yogurt texture is one of them.  Now if I were allowed to eat "regular" chocolate pudding, I'd be all over that!

One thing about Nutrisystem sending me "free" food is they put stuff in the box I don't like.  I have never been and will never be a fan of tomato soup.  This diet plan is giving me indigestion but I guess that is a small price to pay to burn the fat off.  I might be fat but I'm a strong person.  I miss going to the gym and doing an hour on the treadmill.  My physical therapist, Landon, says I need to use the elliptical machine as it's better for my back.  5 minutes on that thing and I'm worn out!

I feel like Ramona on that show Real Housewives of New York.  I want to "renew" myself.  I don't plan to renew my vows any time soon as I've only been married 3 years but I want to get fit, maybe change my hair style, and get a nice complimentary wardrobe when I've reached my goal.
